Our league has been running since 1946 at the iconic Hackney Marshes in East London and is one of the most widely recognised grassroots football leagues in the UK. We are an integral part of the community offering opportunities for many young and older adults to play football together.
Our league has seen many players reach the professional ranks and where on the Hackney Marshes heroes of English football from Bobby Moore to David Beckham learnt to play. It was the also setting for the Park Life (Blur) Nike commercial featuring Eric Cantona, Ian Wright and David Seamen (view the video below) and more recently the free BBC Radio 1 Hackney Weekend 2012 festival.
