About Birkbeck Orient FC

COACHES

Notes. None at present.

Birkbeck Orient Football Club was founded in 2005 by a group of Leyton Orient fans who knew each other through the Birkbeck Tavern. The original manager and chairman was Keith Fortt, who passed the reins to Ben Archibald in 2007. Archibald oversaw major changes at the club and several promotions before stepping down in 2016. Since then the club has been run by a committee of current players.

Birkbeck Orient (or BOFC as the club is often referred to) started life in the Independent Sunday League. Their first season proved to be a steep learning curve but results began to improve towards the end of the year as the squad settled into eleven-a-side football. In its first few years, the team endured mixed fortunes, often frustrating manager and supporters alike. For several seasons now the club has run an A and B team in the Hackney & Leyton District League.

The club won its first silverware when they topped Division 4 in the 2012/13 season, and in the 2015/16 season the A team reached the semi-finals of the London Cup. More recently the club won a third place play-off in the 2018/19 preseason at the inaugural Leyton Star Cup.

Over time the club has welcomed more non-Orient supporters into the squad and committee, and takes great pride in its roots and longstanding policy of welcoming new players into the side, which is recognised in its name, crest, and the club’s motto, which translates as 'Respect All Fear None’.
