Hackney Council are applying to use the marshes for entertainment events during the summer - we all know the problems the hackney weekend did to the state of the pitches.

Hackney Council wish to hold major public events on Hackney Marshes between the 1st. May and the 31st August for five years and possibly beyond.

Andy O'Reilly has been officiating in our league longer than most of you have been alive!

To be associated with our league for 45 years is one thing but to be a referee for that long too is truly a remarkable feat and probably will not ever be repeated.

Last week I took the chance to write to promoter guru Barry Hearn from Matchroom Sport to ask for help with some ideas and suggestions regarding our league. He kindly replied back very quickly and invited me to meet him in person to discuss potential ideas.

Today myself, Johnnie and Alec met with Barry at his office in Brentwood, Essex.

Over the last month I have spent some long and hard days revamping the league website. I hope you all approve of what I have done as I think the league site needed to be tidied up more than anything with the sheer amount of content it has.
