Our league has one of the best referee attendance at matches within Sunday Football. This is due to the great referees we have and to the great work done by Ted Gore, the league's referee's secretary who was in the position since 1982. The league salutes his superb work for the past three decades in the position. From the 2012/13 season the mantle has now passed to the very capable Jermaine Wright.
At the forefront of every game and without whom the game cannot be fairly conducted is the referee. There’s something to be said about a person who turns up each week and gives their full concentration, devotion and efforts in giving 22 players a good fair match. Think if your game doesn't have a ref what would happen.
We make sure that our referees are respected and looked after throughout the season. It is also your responsibility to make sure the referee feels safe before, during and after games. While you may have a whole team to get your back a referee often turns up to a game on his own!
Whatever your reason for wanting to become a referee the London Football Association run various referee courses at reasonable rates for you to train and quality.
These are just celebrities pretending for an advert. Imagine a real game without a referee on a Sunday morning? It just wouldn't happen. Without a referee your game will not be played or recognised as being played by our league.
Referees are paid £35 per game. Assistants are paid £20 per game.
Match officials are paid in full before kick-off. The home team is responsible for paying all match officials their full fee. The home team will then recover half the fee from the opposition.
Please also make sure when paying him that you provide a 'good' match ball for the game.
Any matters relating to the officials within our league or any other refereeing matters then please contact Jermaine Wright
