The league will be adding a more in-depth tribute very soon on this page to the great man that was Alec Pretlove who sadly passed away on the 28th of January 2019. Alec served our league with such distinction and honour for many decades and has been a huge integral part of the Hackney & Leyton League. It is due to his incredible dedication to our league which has made it what it is today and we will never forget his contribution to our league as well as the amazing and humble man we remember him as.

Alec played on Hackney Marshes in the 1940s for various teams including the White Horse FC from Islington and William Hughes FC which was based at the Glyn Arms in Hackney, however, it attracted players from all over London. He then managed William Hughes FC before joining the Hackney and Leyton committee in various roles, he became Chairman of the League in 1983 during his time on the committee he continued to manage Hoxton FC who his son David played for.

Alec held the position of Hon President until he sadly passed away on 28th of January 2019
